In-Person Elder Abuse Awareness & Prevention Workshop

Recent trends in financial abuse among the elderly show an alarming increase, especially with the adoption of digital technologies. The U.S. Tresury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network has data showing a prevalence of financial exploitation among seniors. Financial institutions reported $27 billion in suspicious activities linked to elder financial exploitation from 2022 to 2023. FInCEN's report underscores the growing issue of financial crimes against older adults, involving illegal or improper use of their funds, property or assets.

To help increase mindfulness and prevent scams and financial exploitation of the elderly, Partner Colorado Credit Union is teaming up with the City and County of Denver to present a new Elder Abuse Awareness & Prevention Workshop.

We'll present examples of crimes against the elderly, highlight specific trends and challenges affecting the elderly, and point out current red flags and fraud trends. You'll also have the opportunity to speak with our presenters about any questions you have about financial elder abuse.
